Ingrid Melcers contributed this class photo and had an interesting observation:
"When my husband, Tom, first saw it, he commented that the Statue of Liberty showed up outside the window. Is this some sort of optical illusion or could the Statue of Liberty really be in that position outside? I know I could see the Statue of Liberty from the roof of the 4-story apartment building where I lived on Prospect Park SW and 10th Ave. But I don't remember seeing the Statue of Liberty outside the classroom window like that. Although this classroom was on the top floor of the school. What do you think?"
Charles Ofria added:
"The only classroom where this picture could have been taken would have had the windows facing Prospect Ave. with the back wall facing 7th ave. When I looked at a map, it seemed that the Statue would only be visible if you stuck your head out of the window and looked in the direction of the back of the room. I doubt that the statue would have looked that big either. So what is that??"
Here is a satellite view of PS10 showing the roof and a map below it. Judging by the contour of the top floor, there are only two possible locations for that classroom.
